CHRISTMAS PARTY & AWARDS BANQUET - 12/13/03 - PAGE 3

Nelda Mitchell, as NCCC Governor, presents the members with the Travel Patches

Travel patches are earned by members who attend eight NCCC events not including Cowtown's during the year.  You don't have to enter events; you just have to attend the weekend.  I know that we had several couples who went to event weekends during the year that did not compete, i.e., the Greenfeders, the Herholds, and the Morrisons  I want to thank Don Wells for our new source for travel patches the past two years.  I think they look great and I appreciate his efforts.

The car depicted on the patch is the car that belongs to the Top Competitor for the Year.  This year it is a gray C4 coupe that belongs to Yvette and Bruce Lewis.

Bruce & Yvette's '84 is featured on the 2003 Travel Patch

Last year I awarded 9 travel patches.  This year patches go to:

GOVERNOR'S AWARD, presented by Nelda Mitchell, our NCCC Governor:  This award is mine to present to whomever I please.

I wanted to recognize a member who was very active this year.  Since I am your NCCC representative, I looked at members who were very active in NCCC activities this year and I found quite a few as I presented previously during the competition awards.  I also looked at other active members.  Members who attend meetings, socials, chair events, chair socials, and actively participate in whatever Cowtown does.

Well, I came up with at least a dozen or so members who fit those bills, but I was looking for just one.  And remember, I have no criteria---just a decision.

Well, you can see my dilemma. We don't always appreciate and recognize our members who contribute so much to our Club and there are many of you here tonight.  We now have 183 members to close the year 2003, which is the largest number the club has had in 30 years.

34 of you have joined since September.  We appreciate each of you!

I would like to recognize tonight a new member (new being relative) who made a conscious decision to become a member of our Club and be involved.  And that he has done.  We hear the name a lot at meetings, socials and see it on the internet passing along LOTS of Corvette information.  For his efforts this year, I would like to present my Governors Award to Doug McMahan

Chris South, our Competition Chairperson, presented Bob Morrison with an FTD (fastest time of the Day) trophy from our September event at TMS
