Hosted by a four club sponsored NCCC deal: Cedar Rapids Corvette Club; Corvette Club of Iowa; Midwestern Corvette Society Inc; and the River City Corvette Ass'n Saturday, May 28 thru 30, 2005 While visiting my son in Kansas City I continued up the road a little and attended the 5th Annual All Iowa Corvette Weekend in Chariton, IA 28-30 May 05. It was 732 miles one way and I drove our 2003 50th Anniversary Red convertible (recent purchase) - my, what a pleasure driving compared to that OLD 1962 that I used to have!!!! Debbi and I have named her "ANN" to distinguish the 'anniversary red' from our 'medium spiral gray metallic' - since they are both 03 convertibles! Debbi missed the activities as she was still in VA & NC w/ family. 1. Peoples Choice: 35 cars, 12 in MY class (1997-2004) - but I placed 1st! 2. Funkhana; participated - had fun! 3. Poker rallye; participated - bad poker hand! 4. Rallye; participated - a neat drive in the country - a tad long. 5 - 8. Four low speed autocrosses: Novice entry - had a great time learning the course and the car at the same time. The course was at the airport and was laid out pretty well. A total of 65 drivers raced - from a 1967 to two 2005s. Only scheduled two autocrosses per day - they start late and are not in a big hurry up there! Weather was great on Sat for events 1 thru 4; rained on Sun so the first two autocrosses were slower. Mon was clear and dry - fast times. Photos and information provided by Doc Lambert
