Touring Laps in Model A's at the AutoBahn
A very nice collection of Model A's came out to the Autobahn.  They took rides in Corvettes and then we got to take rides in the Model A's

I got in to enjoy my ride and the owner got out, told me to drive and then put a passenger from OK in the other side  Jeannie Ruston in the sedan - riding shotgun

The Rustons, Moores and us headed back to the Convention Center

Valve Cover Races - Elimination Style
and what a crowd there was this evening - hundreds in the room watching this adult style pine wood derby (from my Scouting days)

This sport has been around a long time and just last year it was brought back to NCCC Convention - there are car events and shows all over the country that still host them; here are few references: Hot Rods & Classics  Black Canyon Classics  High Desert Corvettes Ridgenet Euro Motor

The racers could not weigh more than 8#, tires must be 4" or smaller in diameter (max of 4) and you had ot get re-teched each and every test run - no modifications were permitted after the eliminations started.  They awarded top small block, big block, furthest distance, overall show & top eliminator
You got to make some test runs and tweak before making more runs, I'm adding weights here  Doug McMahan wit his big block valve cover racer (Eliminator) on the near side making test runs against Glenda McMahan's small block valve cover

Bob Morrison with his small block valve cover racer - Mickey - made several rounds in the elminations    Glenda, ready to run - of course little did she know the VCR staged with her would knock her off the track when it switched lanes

After the eliminations, they were lined up for a participant's choice show

Walt Jenkins with his small block valve cover Won Top Eliminator over Doug McMahan

maybe Cowtown should think about this as a club event or even doing it at our car show?
