Thursday

we awoke to another rainy day but a couple of us headed out for Bloomington Gold anyway

Low & High -Speed Events at the AutoBahn

...although there were more convention events today, we opted to head to do something else

Bloomington Gold

Yes this isn't Convention related but it is Corvette and lots of Convention Attendees went at some point - convention was event planned on these dates with this in mind.

...although today wasn't the big day at Bloomington, it was the only one that fit our schedule since we had to head home on Saturday - other Cowtown members attended this on the weekend.

We arrived in St. Charles, IL, on the Pleasant Run Resort, about an hour and 15 minutes from Tinley Park

Since we were driving Corvettes but not entering, they routed us to the south end for entry into the golf course

Then we encountered what we call "speed bumps" in Texas - they are different up here

hey golfers? ...have you ever taken your Vette thru the Golf course
we did the 1st 9 holes before we parked at the edge of the green

we wandered thru the "sell it yourself area" where individuals had virtually any kind of Vette part you were looking for - to this rare '57 which was on display

the "sell it yourself" car area had a good selection of C2s and even an old straight axle gasser for sale

...then we spotted the collector's dream, 19 beautifully restored black Corvettes, 18 of which were C1s & C2s with one C3 all being auctioned off thru Mecum.  They had a matched pair of '67 Big Blocks, one was a convertible and the other was a coupe.
Mecum's sales this event topped $5.8 million with the top sale being a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette ZR2, 454/425 HP, 4-Speed selling for $410,000

This rare big brake fuelie '58 brought $85k at auction One of only 144 built with the code 684 Heavy Duty Brakes and Suspension package

This '63 convertible VetteRod brought $100k

This 2009 Karl Custom built on a C6 donor car brought $100k

...after we had seen all we wanted and bought some parts and tools, we enjoyed the "back nine" and headed back.

These benches were all over Tinley Park, no two of them were the same
