Time to head on down the road
Minor delay as a lady lost control of her car and hit guard rails on both sides of the road - how she missed our group of Vettes the good Lord only knows why.  Our members helped the driver until the ambulance arrived and others directed traffic.

Arrival at the Red River Army Depot
We finally arrived at the RRAD and got checked in at the gate

Gary led us on thru the working part of the base out to our destination of Elliott lake

 Short Beer Run timeframe

we passed military vehicles in various stages of repair

Elliott lake and the cabins were about six miles further into the base

We arrived at the office where we checked in and registered for the cabins

some of the cabins were across a feeder for the lake with a walkway across.
Before heading to the cabin we drove across the dam to look across the lake at the cabin area (right)

The cabins were very nice, some like this one was fairly new

from this cabin we could look across the feeder part of the lake where the other cabins were located

This was one of the larger cabins; a 2-story, 3 bedroom unit

...and what goes on at RRAD stays at RRAD, until you post it on Facebook ;)

Dinner at Smokey Joe's Barbeque in Nash, TX
Gwynne and Gary had dinner lined up at Smokey Joe's for Saturday evening, including a private dinning room

Fellowship and Fun Around the Campfire
That evening Gary built a great fire for everyone to gather around

The lake was glassy smooth tonight, not a ripple one

and the sky was clear with ...wait, what are those - stars???  ...something we don't see very often in the city

Sunday Morning
Sunday morning was another nice day, the air was cool and crisp - perfect for coffee  and a stroll

Lots of wildlife to watch, making the stroll more enjoyable

Looking across at the Hanna's cabin, we could see several gathering for the continental breakfast

There were a few tepees at the campgrounds
