The year is almost halfway over, and we’ve already had some great times – with our “Cheers to Fifty Years” party celebrating the clubs successes since 1974, taking place this month.

If you’re a member, Thank You for your participation and continued work to lead and in making our varied activities successful and fun.

If you are checking us out on-line, don’t hesitate to jump in and join us cruising, motor crossing, participating in charitable events or at our other social activities.

Our club motto is …. “We joined for the cars, but we stayed for the people”.  This is continually reinforced at each and every club event that I have had the privilege to attend. So start your engines, join us …. you’ll make some really cool new friends.

Happy Driving,

Thanks to all you came out for the Vettes and Vino cruise on May 11.

We were blessed with a beautiful, cool, overcast, but not rainy day!

I think there were approximately 25-26 cars who traveled the back roads of

Tarrant, Johnson, and Ellis Counties to Cassaro Winery in Ovilla led by Doug and Glenda McMahan.

June will be our “big” celebration of Cowtown Vettes 50th Anniversary,

our Cheers to 50 Years”.

The club will be hosting a “Margaritaville” themed party on June 15th at the

Lone Star Towers Clubhouse at Texas Motor Speedway from 1 to 5pm.

**See the invitation to this party on the Cowtown website under coming events.

The cost is $25 per person and will include finger food, Margaritas (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic),

misc. beer, water, fruit, veggies, and other munchies.

Bring out your best “beachy” apparel for the “Best Parrot Head” contest and

show up in your best “decorated” flip flops for the best decorated “flip flop” contest.

There will also be a historical display of Cowtown memorabilia

Robert Geyer, Cruiser Chair tentatively has a cruise to

the Roadside America Museum in Hillsboro as our July social event.

He will have more info as it gets closer to the time.

Sylvia Hoaldridge has graciously offered to host another pool party

at her home in August...so look forward to info on that later on also.

Let me know if you plan to attend by email at marypittman@hotmail.com

or text me at 817-368-3730.

Wasting away again in Margaritaville

The Cheers to 50 Years party – celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cowtown Vettes

will be on Saturday, June 15, from 1 – 4.

There will be snacks and light foods, beer, and of course, Margarita machines.

One part of the activities will be a few contests.

One such contest will be a decorated flip flop contest

Each participant will bring or wear a pair of flip-flops decorated to represent the theme.

There will be ballots for each person to vote for their favorite.

We will tally the votes and present the winner with a fabulous prize like a 1-week cruise

(or something similar, depending on budget).

Any questions?  Contact Jo Anne Smith

I know many of you are asking this question and it may even be keeping you up at night! LOL!! Rumor is there will be a big sighting of Parrotheads on June 15 at Texas Moror Speedway, of all places. Firsthand information has been provided by knowledgeable sources that a group of Parrotheads are scheduled to gather at this location, on this date at 1:00 pm, for the fabulous...

Now to be a Parrothead, one must dress like a Parrothead! You just can’t say you are a Parrothead if you don’t look like a Parrothead. Got that!!! So be part of the fun, get your clothes out that fit the Parrothead style (bright colors, Caribbean attire, flip flops, straw hats, shorts, linen pants)! If they are not in your closet, check out your favorite local store or Amazon. Even Dollar Tree has bright colored flip flops, straw hats, and Hawaiian leis.

The party will be a great time to catch up with current, former and new members so be there, don’t be square and get that Parrothead attire on!!!!

Margaritaville, here we come!!

Digital / Social Media Article

Hope everyone had a great time at the Vettes & Vino event.

Since we won’t be at the June membership meeting, I’d like to share that John (owner of Cassaro Winery) was amazed at the turn out – he thanked everyone that came out to enjoy the day, and his wines of course.

He even said do this more often, which led me into the discussion around the Vettes & Vines Corvette Show we used to enjoy at Lost Oak before they cancelled them.  He would like to do that type of event once or twice a year.

This year is gearing up and proving to be a fun and exciting year for Cowtown’s 50th Anniversary 😉

We won’t have a slideshow this month since we are on a cruise, they will continue in July at the Membership Meetings, which will include any socials and other events that took place in the previous month.

The slideshow will continue to include some Corvette Trivia along with various other Corvette happenings around the country. Larry (our webmaster) does post a lower-resolution version online, on the CTV Website. Please provide any submissions for the slideshow to me no later than Monday evening of the Membership Meeting week.

If you have been working on or updating your Corvette with new items …or if you have taken a trip in your Corvette and have some photos to share with membership, please send those to me and I’ll include them in the monthly slideshow.  Cowtown’s Microsoft O365 account allows us to use OneDrive, which makes it much easier for you to provide high-resolution photos from events for the web and/or monthly slideshow. If you would like to share photos, please take them in high-resolution; if not, they can’t be used on the big screen since they would show grainy / blurry.  These are needed by noon, the Monday before the Membership Meeting. If you have questions, please contact me and I’ll provide you with more information and the OneDrive link to share your photos – basically use the highest resolution option you can set on your camera or smartphone.

When you receive a CTV-ALL eMail blast, we would request that you please only reply to the originator when you are replying to a CTV-ALL email. When you opt to reply, simply select Reply on the email, then remove the CTV-All entry and replace it with the email address of the originator. If you are sending CTV-ALL emails, please include your email address in the body of the email so you have that address handy.

If you change your email or home address, Corvette, or other info – please drop an email to CTV-Membership@groups.io.

If you are not receiving CTV-ALL emails, please get with me so we can either add you or figure out why you aren’t receiving them.

More information on email distribution lists and the acceptable use of them can be found on our website.

Facebook – if you are on Facebook and not a “friend” of Cowtown Vettes, members cannot include you in tags at events; these tags show your non-club member friends all the fun we are having. Who knows, maybe some of you are in the witness protection program and don’t want to be tagged J If you are posting, be sure to tag Cowtown Vettes so it appears on our Facebook news feed.

CTV Sponsorship

For our 50th Anniversary, Cowtown could benefit and would like to partner with some good club sponsors (at any level); see below. Do you own or work somewhere that might be interested in becoming a sponsor?  if so, help promote them to become a Cowtown Vettes Sponsor? There are multiple levels depending on the depth of sponsorship desired. Do you have a candidate or any thoughts for a club sponsor? With club sponsors we can fund the financial needs of our club, but we also have opportunities for funding an event or socials; or event to print the Low-Down, etc. Not all sponsor levels have to be automotive related, so talk to us and share what you might be interested in sponsoring.

Note: We have a freshly painted Club Trailer – Certain Club Sponsors Levels will have their logo added to our club trailer, adding visibility beyond the flyer and our website.

We always have copies of Cowtown’s Sponsor Program at the Membership Meetings – see me. They are also available on our website, on the Sponsor page. If you need some in between meetings, contact either me or the Sponsorship Committee CTV-SC@groups.io

We continue tweaking the Member Guide that will help everyone to understand and promote Cowtown to potential sponsors. This guide will only be posted on the CTV Member’s Only website page – not to be distributed to non-CTV Individuals.

If you have questions or need clarifications, please reach out.

NCCC Event Chairperson(s) NEEDED

Cowtown Vettes annual income, typically ~83% comes from NCCC Events, the remainder from the Annual Corvette Show.  Each year, Cowtown typically holds an Autocross in the Spring, along with a Corvette Scramble (has been at Fat Daddy’s) and another Autocross in the Fall.

Cowtown Vettes is looking for someone to head up the NCCC Event Chairperson for 2025, when Larry Schaapveld steps down.  This could even be a couple of members if one member wanted to chair the Autocross events (like the TCC events this year) and the other the Scramble type events (car show, funkhana, rallyes). Keep in mind that this chairperson does NOT have to be a racer or competitor to be great at this, we have had previous chairpersons that were not, and they did an awesome job. Do you have organizational or planning skills?  If so, you have most of the skills needed to be successful. There are numerous knowledgeable members that will always pitch in and help you any way they can.

We invite you to get involved and help Cowtown with these revenue generating events and consider this chairperson position. If you are interested and/or have questions about this chairperson, contact Larry Schaapveld, Doug or Glenda McMahan, or other members that have been around a while.

Cowtown Cruiser

Robert Geyer - Cruiser/Equipment Chair

Hello cruisers,

We are moving into Summer now and cruiser season is in full swing.

Continue collecting your cruiser points and don't forget to take your ' what I saw along the way picture '.  Remember this picture is not just your car , but rather the scenery AROUND your car, placement, composition, and what I like best is the pictures uniqueness.

These pictures are to be judged by your Cowtown Vettes peers.  So have some fun taking your pictures and let's see what turns up. One never knows what will be chosen

I especially want to thank Doug & Glenda for the cruise they led to the Winery in Ovilla.  When they put on a cruise you can always rely on them for a fun and exciting drive with a great destination at the end.

Remember if you have a cruise or destination YOU would like to travel to, let me know and I bet we can make it happen.

Now on to new business.  June is a very busy month for me as well as our club. So I will not be scheduling a separate cruise for June.

However I do have a fun trip planned for Hillsboro to see a cool place called Roadside America Museum.  This place was featured on The Day Tripper and Bob Phillips Texas Country Reporter TV show among others.

If your into road nostalgia, then this is your place.  Lunch has yet to be selected but I bet I'll find someplace.😁  Save the date of July 27th for the Hillsboro cruise. Time and details will be in the July Lowdown edition.

On a different note, I had planned to have a trip to Canton for their First Monday Trade Days in late June, but I decided to postpone this cruise until Fall.  I had too many scheduling conflicts and it's too hot to visit in the Summer months.
On August the 24th I am planning a cruise to a small cheese shop between Stephenville and  Dublin with lunch in Stevenville at the Hard Eight BBQ resturant. Again time and details will be given later.

With all of the other events scheduled, this is shaping up to be a busy and fun Summer. Come join with your Cowtown Vettes friends and let's have some fun.🤩

Your Cruiser Chairperson

Robert Geyer

Cathy Baker - Charities

  Hello everyone –

Let’s start out with a “recap” of what the club has done regarding charity thus far for 2024:

We continue with all the activities we participated in for 2023. The club voted on the charity organizations that we will be supporting for the 2024 season.

This year, we decided to choose two local charities so that the club can make a larger impact with our end of the year donations.

The votes indicated CTV will support The Fisher House Foundation (providing help for military and veteran families) and The Warm Place (FW organization providing grief support for children and their families).

And as stated at our March membership meeting, at the end of 2024 we will donate monetarily to these two organizations as well as the National Kidney Foundation.

CTV hosted the Don’t Forget To Feed Me organization with a “pet food drive” at our May 1st membership meeting.  This year we raised 304 lbs of pet food, 10 lbs of treats and $405 in donations for DF2FM.  This was an amazing outpouring of generosity. This worthwhile organization is forever grateful to the Cowtown Vettes for our annual participation.

Mark your calendars - on Thursday June 27th (from 1:00-4:00pm) we will have a “volunteer work opportunity” with the Tarrant Area Food Bank located at 2600 Cullen Street.

I will have a sign-up sheet at our June Membership Meeting. We need at least 15 members and can always use more. If you are not able to attend the membership meeting, let me know and I will include you on our list of workers.

CTV always has a hard-working team and has fun supporting the TAFB.

I personally find one of the most rewarding parts of being the club’s Charity Chairperson is observing the kindness of our members throughout the year.  Donating time and money to groups in need by helping within our own community which is essential in maintaining our club’s positive reputation for giving back.

And I have you all to thank for that !

Everyone stay safe and well and more to follow …..

CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: AWA Leads Corvette Contingent at Finish

The No. 3 Oshkosh/Mobil 1 Corvette Z06 GT3.R of Antonio Garcia, Alexander Sims and Daniel Juncadella looked as if it would take the honors as the highest-finishing Corvette in the race before being hit from behind and spun off track in the waning laps while running second in GTD PRO.

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It wasn’t too bad early. The mentality at the start here was not to do anything stupid, no matter what.

On the very first laps, you needed be very easy. Obviously there was a lot of chaos in front of us, but the mindset was already pretty reserved anyway so it didn’t affect us. I had two good stints there.

It was tough to race with some the other cars in our class.”

In a gripping chapter at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, the Corvette Racing team, led by Ben Bode, battled fiercely in the all-new No. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Alexander Sims, Daniel Juncadella, and Antonio Garcia pushed for glory, nearly clinching a podium in GTD PRO before a jarring collision derailed their dreams. Meanwhile, the No. 4 team, with Nicky Catsburg, Earl Bamber, and Tommy Milner, showcased skill and teamwork. A testament to Pratt Miller’s engineering and the spirit of Corvette Racing.

The SW Region 2024 Competition Season is in full swing.

We have had a 14 event autocross weekend in Waco, our Spring Scramble at Fat Daddy’s, Our Larry Hoaldridge Memorial Event, and a 14 event autocross weekend in Killeen.

By the time you read this, we will have just finished a 3-day weekend in Drumright, OK. It’s a great facility with a lot of possibilities.

The flyer is up for June 22 and 23 in Ardmore. The annual “Cruzin’ the Arbuckles” weekend is a laid back, lots of fun weekend. This year it’s going to be filled with 6 car shows (don’t ask), 4 funkhanas and 4 rallyes. If you’re chasing points, it’s a great opportunity.

The next thing on the horizon is our fall event, September 7 and 8, once again at Tarrant County College.
