Cowtown Vette Members,
May and June are busy months with Mother’s Day,
Father’s Day, Memorial Day; thank you to all who have served and
protected us. There a couple of lunch socials and working at the Tarrant
Area Food Bank. Don’t for get to bring pet food to the June
membership meeting. Let’s try and break a record with out donations.
Don’t Forget to Feed Me does amazing work for the community.
The Car Show Committee had their first meeting.
A lot was accomplished. The show will have a new location, food
truck(s), shade, exciting new adventures. Welcome, Jerry’s Chevrolet,
Burleson. Please contact them with your Corvette needs. Please contact
Cliff Holden or Bill Buhler if you would like to serve on the committee.
It’s a great committee to serve on. I have been lucky to be a part of
all for 23 years. It’s amazing this will be the 23 rd annual
show.
On May 17th and 18th was
the 13th annual Scramble. I hope everyone had a great time. I
wish I had been able to attend. I have had some trying times lately and
a water leak that flooded my garage on the 18th did not help.
I would have rather been at the Scramble. From what I heard it was a
nice event.
June 7th 10:00 am, we
will be cleaning out and re-organizing the club trailer. Contact me it
you would like to help.
Help Wanted: A Parliamentarian, Sponsorship,
and Cruise Master (a few volunteered to help with cruises at the last
meeting).
Wow, I hope I didn’t forget anything. See the
website and newsletter for all upcoming club events. Great fun, great
people. See you all at the meeting(s) on June 4th.
Kim West
Thank you to the Schaapveld’s,
the Winter’s, the Baker’s, and the Parker’s for showing your beauties in
the circle drive at the April meeting.

Our first mid-week lunch went well. Thank you
to everyone who came out.
Below is the information for our June social:

Worth
Drive Your Corvette to Work Day is an annual
event held on the Friday closest to June 30th, the anniversary of the
first Corvette rolling off the assembly line in 1953. Mid America
Motorworks promotes this day, encouraging Corvette owners to drive their
cars to work. The goal is to showcase the Corvette's popularity and keep
the spirit of the car alive.
Here's a more detailed look:
Origin:
The event was started in 2001 by Mike Yager,
the founder of Mid America Motorworks, a leading supplier of aftermarket
Corvette parts and accessories.
Purpose:
It's a day to celebrate the Corvette and
encourage owners to take their cars out on the road, even if they're not
necessarily daily drivers.
Participation:
Corvette owners are encouraged to share
photos of their cars at work on social media, especially on the National
Corvette Museum's Facebook page.
2025 Date:
In 2025, Drive Your Corvette to Work Day will
be held on Friday, June 27th.
I’ll have a sign up sheet at our June
membership meeting or you can call, text or email me at 850-517-7346,

I hope everyone has a great month!

June 2025
I am currently working on the 50th
Anniversary Scrapbook with the hopes of having it finished in June. It will concentrate on the 50th year of 2024,
but it will also contain tidbits from 2015 - 2023. This decade
included many high points for the club as well as many changes that
affected the way we do things, most notable being the world wide pandemic
of 2020. I see this as being the last “put together, physical”
scrapbook that we will have as everything now days will be archived
digitally.
I would like to say a huge thank you to
Mack Maxwell who has agreed to house our archived collection of historical
memorabilia, including scrapbooks, LowDowns, Blue Bars, club awards, etc.

If you have not rec’d your 50 th Anniversary
Cowtown Vettes commemorative Deck of Playing Cards, please attend the next
Membership Meeting and see me. Each primary member /
household receives one deck of cards. I’ll bring a few
decks on the next cruise as well. If you’d like an extra
set (or two), see me as well, we did purchase extra decks of cards- these
are $5 per deck.
We will have the Events, Socials and such in the
next Slideshow. The slideshow will continue to
include some Corvette Trivia along with various other Corvette
happenings around the country. Brian (our webmaster) does post a
lower-resolution version online, on the CTV Website. Please provide any
submissions for the slideshow to me no later than Sunday evening of
the Membership Meeting week.
If you have been working on or updating your
Corvette with new items …or if you have taken a trip in your Corvette and
have some photos to share with membership, please send those to me and
I’ll include them in the monthly slideshow. Cowtown’s
Microsoft O365 account allows us to use OneDrive, which makes
it much easier for you to provide high-resolution photos from events for the
web and/or monthly slideshow. If you would like to share photos, please
take them in high-resolution; if not, they can’t be used on
the big screen since they would show grainy / blurry. These are needed
by noon, the Monday before the Membership Meeting. If you have questions,
please contact me and I’ll provide you with more information and the
OneDrive link to share your photos – basically use the highest
resolution option you can set on your camera or smartphone .
When you receive a CTV-ALL eMail blast, we would
request that you please only reply to the
originator when you are replying to a CTV-ALL email. When you opt
to reply, simply select Reply on the email, then remove
the CTV-All entry and replace it with the email address of the
originator. If you are sending CTV-ALL emails, please include your email
address in the body of the email so you have that address handy.
If you change your email or home address, Corvette, or
other info – please drop an email to
CTV-Membership@groups.io.
If you are not receiving CTV-ALL emails, please get
with me so we can either add you or figure out why you aren’t receiving
them.
More information on email distribution lists and the
acceptable use of them
can be found on our
website .
Facebook – if you are on Facebook and not a “friend” of
Cowtown Vettes, members cannot include you in tags at events; these tags
show your non-club member friends all the fun we are having. Who knows,
maybe some of you are in the witness protection program and
don’t want to be tagged J If you are
posting, be sure to tag Cowtown Vettes so it appears on our Facebook
news feed.

Hello Fellow Cruisers,
As I informed everyone in attendance at our March club
meeting, this was my last cruise I will be leading for
the foreseeable future. The care and needs of my wife
Cydnie will require my full-time attention as she has
begun her second round of cancer treatment. It's now
time for someone else to step up and continue Cowtown's
cruise program.
I want to thank everyone for your kind thoughts and
prayers during this trying time. The tag line 'I came
for the cars, but stayed for the people' was never
truer. We will get through this together and both of
us will be back better than ever. Cowtown is the best
extended family we could ever have.

Hi everyone,
Thanks to
everyone who participated in the 50/50 drawing last month.
Glenda McMahan was the lucky person who took home half of the
$227 pot. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
Over the next few months, we will have some extra items in the
drawings that have recently been donated to us by members.
More chances to win!
Please remember
that Debbie Sharpe from the Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank will
be at our June meeting to collect our pet food donations.
She will be set up in the drive in front of Pinstripes to collect
our donations as we come to the meeting. Please bring cat and dog food
according to the guidelines below. If you are unable
to bring pet food to the meetings and would rather make a monetary
donation, please contact Debbie Lindsey or Paula Winter.
The mission of
Don’t Forget to Feed Me (DF2FM) is to supply pet food to local agencies
in support of pet owners while educating the public about pet food
insecurity. By providing pet food for those in need
during challenging financial times and increasing awareness, they offer
an alternative to surrendering - or worse, abandoning - a family pet.
Don’t Forget to Feed Me helps to ensure that no pet owner must
choose between stay or go. DF2FM is a 501(c)3
nonprofit based in Fort Worth.
The following
is a list of the items they can accept:
• Canned dog
and cat food
-
any brand, any variety (including recently expired
and damaged product)
• Dry dog and

Corvette Racing at Laguna Seca:
Podium for Garcia, Sims
|
|
 |
. |
MONTEREY, Calif. (May 11, 2025) – Corvette
Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports returned
its No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R to the GTD PRO podium as Antonio
Garcia and Alexander Sims finished third in Sunday’s Monterey SportsCar
Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
The result gives the duo two podiums in three GTD PRO races this
season following their runner-up finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona to
start the season. It also is the second straight podium finish in
Monterey for the Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller squad after Tommy
Milner and Nicky Catsburg were third a year ago.
|
|
 |
|
Milner and Catsburg were sixth in class this time around in
their No. 4 Corvette following an unexpected late-race pitstop. The
duo ran as high as second in the opening portion of the race but
suffered a refueling issue on what was to have been Milner’s final
stop for service with a little more than an hour to go. |

Corvette Racing at SPA: On to Le Mans
|
|
 |
|
-
STAVELOT,
Belgium (May 10, 2025) – TF
Sport and
its two Chevrolet
Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs are
turning the page after a difficult Six Hours of Spa and focusing
fully now on the 24 Hours of Le Mans…the biggest race of the FIA
World Endurance Championship season.
|
|
 |
|
The seemingly lone bright spot for the weekend is the No. 33 TF
Sport Corvette will carry the Drivers and Teams points leads into Le
Mans, which serves as a double-points race. |
|
 |
|
TF Sport’s next race in the FIA WEC is the 24 Hours of Le Mans
on June 14-15. Their two Corvettes will be joined by AWA’s No. 13
Corvette from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. |

LowDown Article - NCM Ambassador
May 2025
In addition to being the Cowtown Vettes
Historian, I have also assumed the position of National Corvette Museum
Ambassador.
The NCM is located at 350 Corvette Dr in
Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In addition to the Nostalgia Gallery
“which takes visitors on a journey through the iconic eras of Corvette
history, showcasing classic models and memorabilia that celebrates the
timeless appeal and cultural impact of America’s Sports Car”, there are
special exhibits, educational opportunities, special activities, museum
car delivery and also, the NCM Motorsports Park.
One of the special exhibits available
now through 12/31/2025 is Speed Captured: The Photographic Works of
Richard Prince. Prince spend 30 years documenting “the evolution of the
Corvette and its historical role in racing”.
Also, coming up in the latter part of
April is the Museum Bash and in August they will celebrate the 31st
anniversary of the museum.
If you haven’t been to the museum, I
would highly encourage you to make the trip to see it and if you are not
a member I would encourage that also, as a way to keep up with what is
going on in the Corvette world and as a way to connect with other
Corvette enthusiasts.
Information regarding memberships,
tickets, etc are available on the NCM website.

Now up to
136 members
strong

Cowtown Vettes membership still sits at 136
members!
Competition points are rolling in as the
competition heats up! Currently, in the lady’s division, we have three
in the Top 10. Lee Ann Parker is first; Lauren Whitcomb is fourth and
Mary Pittman is fifth. Ann Walker is eleventh and Vicki Currey is
twelfth. In the men’s division, we have two in the Top 10. Larry
Schaapveld is second and James Swaringen is eighth. We have a string of
5, from 12th through 16th, Jas Whitcomb, Norman
Walker, Matthew Swaringen, Steve Parker and William Nolan.
Our Spring Scramble was a great success.
As was mentioned earlier, some of us earned more points than we could
have earned at an autocross weekend!
Finishing out the month, on May 31-June
1, at McLane Stadium in Waco, Cen-Tex will hold 14 low-speed
autocrosses. The rest of June is open, until the 28th and 29th.
Cruzin the Arbuckles, a two-day event like our Spring Scramble, will be
held in Ardmore, OK. This is a link to the flyer:
http://www.ncccswregion.org/2025/CTAFlyer.pdf
As was discussed at the last meeting, a
national dues increase will be voted on at the next National Governors
Meeting. It is proposed to raise primary member dues by $15.00 and
spouse/companion by $5.00. I need to know how you want me to vote in the
meeting. Lifetime Member Dues would be raised from $300.00 to $500.00.
Again, as I mentioned at the last
Membership Meeting, and in my last article, if you wish to only receive
Blue Bars digitally, please let me know.
Thanks to James Swaringen and Larry
Schaapveld for putting on our Spring Scramble Event! It was a very
successful event, and a good time was had by all!
More information can be found on the SW
Region Calendar, located here:
http://www.ncccswregion.org/schedule_2025.html More flyers
will be uploaded as we get closer to the events.
