I would like to thank everyone for being patient while we are in another transition. Our October 1st meeting location is at Spring Creek BBQ in Bedford.

1509 Airport Freeway

Bedford, TX 76021

I have reserved the meeting room from 6:00-9:00 pm. If you need more info, see the email I sent to all on September 11th. We are going to try this and see if it works. If anyone knows of a good location, please let me know. I will check out any suggestions.

Thank you to James and the NCCC committee for putting on 2 auto crosses in September. I hope the second one has less excitement than the first.

The Brazos River car show in Granbury is on October 11th. See the Cruiser section for details on a cruise to the show.

The 23rd Annual Car Show is approaching fast, October 18th. We have a great location this year at Jerry’s Chevrolet in Burleson. Please contact The Buhler’s to volunteer to help, they have the signup sheet. Looking forward to another great show. The flyer and registration form are on the website.

It’s hard to believe the year is winding down. We have had lots of excitement and having to be flexible this year. Gayle is working on a wonderful Christmas party. Fingers crossed we can continue our plans for a toy drive.

We are all looking forward to the Hangin at the Hangar Party on November 1st. See details int the Low Down and on the web site.

Thank you to everyone for showing your cars at Pinstripes. It was a great opportunity to show off your beautiful cars.

Thank you to Larry Currey for filling in as Web Master.

September 2025

I had great fun putting together the Cowtown Vettes 50th Anniversary scrapbook.  I tried to encompass a great deal of what happened during the decade of 2015 to 2024... it was fun looking back through pictures, the website and LowDowns from that period of time.

This era was dissected by the Covid pandemic of 2020 which brought about a myriad of changes to how we operate on a daily basis in life overall as well as as a club.

First of all our membership is getting older not only locally, but regionally and nationally, also.  Venues for racing or events are not as readily available or affordable.

From a historical point of view, going forward I feel we will be relying on our digital LowDown for club info and memories as well as the new website (when it is available) where our current activities as well as

past activities, etc will be archived.

The historian will still be responsible for gathering misc. info, club trophies, etc.

Thanks again to Mack Maxwell for storing our physical archives.

If you have not rec’d your 50th Anniversary Cowtown Vettes commemorative Deck of Playing Cards, please attend the next Membership Meeting and see me.  Each primary member / household receives one deck of cards.  I’ll bring a few decks on the next cruise as well.  If you’d like an extra set (or two), see me as well, we did purchase extra decks of cards- these are $5 per deck.

We will have the Events, Socials and such in the next Slideshow.   The slideshow will continue to include some Corvette Trivia along with various other Corvette happenings around the country. Brian (our webmaster) does post a lower-resolution version online, on the CTV Website. Please provide any submissions for the slideshow to me no later than Sunday evening of the Membership Meeting week.

If you have been working on or updating your Corvette with new items …or if you have taken a trip in your Corvette and have some photos to share with membership, please send those to me and I’ll include them in the monthly slideshow.  Cowtown’s Microsoft O365 account allows us to use OneDrive, which makes it much easier for you to provide high-resolution photos from events for the web and/or monthly slideshow. If you would like to share photos, please take them in high-resolution; if not, they can’t be used on the big screen since they would show grainy / blurry.  These are needed by noon, the Monday before the Membership Meeting. If you have questions, please contact me and I’ll provide you with more information and the OneDrive link to share your photos – basically use the highest resolution option you can set on your camera or smartphone.

When you receive a CTV-ALL eMail blast, we would request that you please only reply to the originator when you are replying to a CTV-ALL email. When you opt to reply, simply select Reply on the email, then remove the CTV-All entry and replace it with the email address of the originator. If you are sending CTV-ALL emails, please include your email address in the body of the email so you have that address handy.

If you change your email or home address, Corvette, or other info – please drop an email to CTV-Membership@groups.io.

If you are not receiving CTV-ALL emails, please get with me so we can either add you or figure out why you aren’t receiving them.

More information on email distribution lists and the acceptable use of them can be found on our website.

Facebook – if you are on Facebook and not a “friend” of Cowtown Vettes, members cannot include you in tags at events; these tags show your non-club member friends all the fun we are having. Who knows, maybe some of you are in the witness protection program and don’t want to be tagged J If you are posting, be sure to tag Cowtown Vettes so it appears on our Facebook news feed.

To all Cruisers

I'm baaack...  First I want to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and compassion for me and  Cydnie. You can only imagine what that meant to me and my family.

Now on to business.  As you should know by now the  Brazos River Corvette Club will be hosting their annual car show October 11, 2025 in Granbury.  As before if you are participating and would like to caravan with me to Granbury, we will meet up BEHIND the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Benbrook and travel together. Please be at our designated meeting place by 7:15am as I will promptly leave at 7:30 am. Remember they strongly support our car show and we should in turn help support theirs.

I am working on a new cruise for Fall. Details will be forthcoming soon. Hint, Mystery Dinner Cruise, Poker Run.😎

And for those participating in our Cruiser program keep collecting those points. And for everyone else remember to take your 'what I saw along way' photos as Fall is a great time to showcase your car.

Your Cruiser Chairperson

Garcia: Corvette Needs to Be “Prepared” to Counter Attack

Antonio Garcia on Corvette by Pratt Miller’s strategy for GTD Pro title with two races to go…

Garcia and Sims hold a narrow 53-point lead over DragonSpeed driver Albert Costa and a 191-point gap over AO Racing’s Laurin Heinrich and Klaus Bachler in GTD Pro heading into this weekend’s six-hour Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The drivers of the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R are coming off a long-awaited first class win in more than a year in last month’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway, which slightly extended the gap on second-place finisher Costa.

“It felt really nice to really break through with how the last year or year-and-a-half has been going,” said Garcia.

As Garcia mentioned, the 45-year-old Spaniard also has one eye on becoming a winner at the Brickyard this weekend, a race that has alluded him from his resume.

“Ever since my first time I raced there in Grand-Am, I really loved it and loved to be there, even if we were going the other way around!” he said.

“But I really, really liked it. So it’s a shame I’ve never been able to win there, but I had a lot of fun.

“Even last year was a fun race between all of us with all the changing weather conditions we had.

“It’s a six-hour race, so there’s also a ton of strategy playing out. In order to be in a really good place at the end of the race instead of a regular two-and-a-half hour race, you need to work it out a little bit differently.

Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports (GTD PRO)

· No. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Antonio Garcia/Alexander Sims

· No. 4 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Tommy Milner/Nicky Catsburg

The long-awaited first win of the season for Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims at VIR couldn’t have come at a much better time for the GTD PRO championship picture.

On-Line / LowDown  Feature Article

The new Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts envision a futuristic Corvette hypercar.

When Chevrolet isn’t busy setting records at the Nürburgring with the Corvette ZR1X, its designers are back in the lab, cooking up concepts that imagine the far-off future of America’s favorite sports car.

In April, GM’s advanced design studio in the UK unveiled this futuristic beauty. In July, designers in Pasadena revealed this stunning concept. Now, Chevy is introducing yet another Corvette concept at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in California—and it might be the best one yet.

LowDown Article - NCM Ambassador

Sept 2025

“The mission of the National Corvette Museum is to educate worldwide

audiences on the evolution of the Corvette --America’s Sports Car-- through collections, preservation, and celebration of its legacy.”

At the museum’s 31st anniversary celebration that was just held on August 28 - 30, 2025, Zora Arkus - Duntov’s, only Corvette, fully restored was debuted.  Who, you ask, is Zora Arkus - Duntov?  Depending on where you read he is referred to as either the “Father of the Corvette” or the “Godfather of the Corvette” although Harley Earl was the original designer of the Corvette.  After seeing the 1953 Corvette on display in New York City, Arkus - Duntov wrote General Motors that he found the car “visually superb, but was disappointed with what was underneath”.  He went to work at GM in May of 1953 as a staff engineer with the idea of changing that perception and was “pivotal in elevating the Corvette into a world class performance vehicle”.  The only Corvette Arkus - Duntov owned was a retirement gift from Chevrolet. You can read more about his life and work on the museum’s website or other online sources.

For the latest on museum happenings you can go to the website for info. Museum members can log onto the website for more news and info. As always the museum offers car raffles, NCM insurance, shopping and event info as well as article about exhibits.
