Next Stop - Russell Farms Art Center & Charlie Boren Studio - Burleson, TX

Bruce then led the caravan to the Art Center, about 8 minutes down the road from Sunset.  Charlie opened the center for us to tour today.  Not only is this a place to buy art of various mediums but to also explore your artistic capabilities and take classes.

Besides being an Art Center, this farm has been an operating Texas farm for over 100 years, currently owned and operated by Charlie Boren

There were four buildings of art on display plus various areas for the artists to work

Lots of really nice pieces were on display (and of course, for sale)

Pete McCaskill's Quintessence (Nude) above

<-Dallas had numerous pieces on display - this being one of my favorites

Jeff Gottfried was on site to answer questions and he also had several of his highly detailed bronze pieces on display->

Charlie visited with us about the farm and the history of how the Art Center came about.

Louise was very informative about the pieces of art, their history and even how some of them were created - making them even more interesting.

Dallas was carving on one of his works-in-progress

The boot sculptures were very interesting and out of several different types of wood
Helen continued with the history and facts us as we toured from building to building

In one of the buildings, Helen had taken one of the rooms to show off antiques that they have found around the farm.

Charlie providing additional history on some of the pieces of art Charlie showed us some of the rough-out areas, where the basic shapes of a sculpture start

There were some nice areas to sit and visit after you had toured the center

...then Karla suggested we get a group shot around the old wagon - great idea

Doc and ANN capturing a CCP point to use as either Burleson or Johnson County - good for 2 points since it is a Texas historical site
